Washtenaw Citizens for Ecological Balance is a group of volunteers in the Ann Arbor, Michigan area who advocate for protection and restoration of natural areas and prevention of damage from the harms that an overabundance of deer can cause. These harms include

a) Stunting of woodland regeneration, such as in public parkland, via overbrowsing of understory seedlings. Eating too many of the seedlings removes trees and native plants and destroys forest ecosystems over time

b) Causing deer-vehicle crashes

c) Damaging the plantings in private gardens, botanical gardens and arboretums and

d) accelerating the spread of tick-borne illnesses.
